The decaying social reality in Lithuania
The search for Aristotelian community or how critique of "wild capitalism" is possible without being a Marxist?
Andrius Bielskis
Bielskis asks why Marxism – a powerful tool in Western critical discourses – has lost its appeal to Lithuanian social critics who try to avoid it whenever it is possible. By commenting on the discussion of Slavoj Zizek’s philosophy lecutres in Vilnius, Bielskis shows that those Lithuanian intellectuals who seem to offer brave interpretations of his works, however seem not to have noticed that they contain not only Lacanian ideas but also a strong Marxist standing.
