Europe without an end

Wim van Rooy

About relativism and equivalence of cultures. The author is a well-known Flemish essayist, director of Vrije Israelitishe School Yavne and editor of “Tijdingen” – journal of the Flemish P.E.N. centre. The essay is a provocative discussion of the conflict between cultural relativism (multiculturalism) and universalism. The writer questions the possibilities of universalization of Western culture based on the traditions of Enlightenment that seem to provide no ground for future developments of cross-cultural space.
