Andrej E. Skubic

(b.1967 in Ljubljana, Slovenia) is a writer and translator. Skubic has studied sociolects, slang, and colloquial language at the Ljubljana Faculty of Arts and holds a Ph.D. in Slavic Studies. He has translated, among others, Irvine Welsh, Flann O’Brien, Patrick McCabe, James Joyce, Samuel Beckett, and Gertrude Stein. His first novel, Grenki med (Bitter honey) was published in 1999 and won the Kresnik award for best novel of the year in 2000, as well as the Slovenian Publishers and Booksellers prize for best first book. Further publications include Fuzinski bluz (Fuzine blues, novel, 2001), Norisnica (Madhouse, short stories, 2004), and Popkorn (Popcorn, novel, 2006).
