CAIRN.info
Founded in 2005 by four Belgian and French academic publishers, Cairn.info offers the most comprehensive online collection of French journals in the various fields of humanities and social sciences. Its English interface, Cairn international edition, features tables of contents, abstracts and full-text articles (when available in English), as well as dossiers composed by specialized journalists, who take a look at current events through the prism of francophone scholarly publishing.
Cairn International Edition enables users to search, browse and read this content without speaking a word of French. Thousands of students, scholars and many others browse Cairn every day, with more than one million visits observed each year in non-francophone countries.
Articles
Trajectories of ecologism
Revue Projet 375 (2020)
French journal ‘Revue Projet’ publishes a dossier on ecological thinking. Including articles on why catastrophism won’t save the planet, and how decolonization recasts the environmentalist project.
Blind in one eye
The Hungary question and the European People’s Party
The list of signatories to the statement issued by members of the European People’s Party calling for the expulsion of Fidesz, following Hungary’s ‘Coronavirus Protection Act’, contained some notable absences. Realignments on the European right are making the EPP’s lack of unanimity on the question of national populism untenable.
Reflecting on individualism
La Revue Novelle 2/2020
Belgian journal ‘La Revue nouvelle’ reflects on individualism and criticisms made of it. Why collective behaviour is by no means absent in contemporary society; what burnout tells us about social change; and whether individualism is necessary for creativity.
Contradictions between ecology and economy
Esprit 3/2020
‘Esprit’ explores contradictions between the ecological imperative and dominant economic logic. Including articles on the false expectations of the European Green Deal; green business and consumer passivity; and why technical innovation is not enough.
